Children's Eye Care

Childrens
Eye Care

Children’s vision develops until around the age of eight, and during these early years it is essential to ensure that all is progressing normally.

At Corry & Christie we are experienced at assessing children of all ages, and since there are many different ways of assessing a child's vision you have no need to worry if they are unable to read or have a low attention span. We are also accredited to provide children's refractions within the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital SPEC Scheme.

As everyone in Scotland is entitled to an FREE NHS eye examination, there will be no charge for your child’s test.

In addition, our practice assists the voucher value to cover the cost of standard lenses and a variety of frames. If teenagers wish to upgrade their frames they are free to do so and will receive student discount of 25% off any frame outside the normal children's range.

The College Of Optometrists have developed a useful children's infographic for parents to use.

Myopia
Control

The wordwide prevalence of short-sightedness in children and teens has tripled since 1990, and with rates continuing to rise it is estimated that nearly half of the world's population will be myopic by 2050.

High myopia can increase the risk of permanent vision impairment, so much innovative research has been done to develop lens options which can slow myopic progression.

Corry and Christie are accredited suppliers of lenses such as Hoya's Myosmart (spectacle lenses) and Coopervision's Misight 1 Day (contact lenses), and we will be delighted to advise you on these.
